The last thing you need when the temperature rises is a face caked with thick make-up that leaves you feeling sticky and clogs up your pores. That’s why summertime is all about the no-make up look. Here are our fave tips to stay fresh and keep it light with the no make-up look.
Sunblock is a non-negotiable here in SA – use a non-greasy, light sunblock every day, even if you’re only outdoors for short periods.
Skip the thick foundation and trade it in for a light BB cream, or tinted moisturizer. If that moisturizer is SPF protected, even better! Alternatively, DIY by mixing your regular foundation with moisturiser or sunblock for a similar effect.
Instead of using powder to keep your face in place (which can counteract the dewy look we’re going for), use a little fixing spray on the oilier parts of your skin (i.e. that tricksy T-zone). Try LOV Primer & Setting Spray, also great to use as a spritzer to refresh your face throughout the day.
During the day, stay away from heavy or dark lipstick. Use a moisturising balm or tinted gloss for a clean, fresh look. CATRICE Volumizing Lip Plumper Gloss is a sure way to shine.
Instead of blush, opt for a light bronzer with a gentle shimmer, and use highlighter on your cheekbones. Pair-up CATRICE Matt Bronzer and So Glow Highlighter for the perfect glowy look.
Eyeshadow isn’t essential for the no make-up look, but if you do decide to use it, stick to neutral shades (check out the essence NUDES palette), and use primer on your eyelids to prevent creases.
As we all know, the eyebrows pull your whole look together. Depending on the state of your brows, you may either want to use a gel eyebrow shaper to lift the hairs and fix the shape, or – if your hair is a little thin or light – you may want to use an eyebrow pencil like CATRICE Precise Slimatic Eyebrow pencil, which is ideal because it doesn’t budge, even if you happen to take a plunge into the pool.
